Samhain @ The Back Loft Dublin
4.D Space presented Samhain – An evening of live performances curated by Tara Carroll and Aine O’ Hara.
Samhain is the ancient celtic festival that marked the end of summer, leaving the light and entering the dark. Rituals were the foundation of the festival. At Samhain the division between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through. The family ancestors were honoured and invited home whilst harmful spirits were warded off. People wore costumes and masks to disguise themselves as harmful spirits and thus avoid harm.
Artists included: Sandra Corrigan Breathnach, Mairead Hutchinson, James Moran, Lisa Freeman, Greta Moore, Aine O’Hara and Peter Duffy.
